TAUC congratulates new labor secretary
ARLINGTON, Va. - The Association of Union Constructors looks forward to working with newly appointed Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis.
Rep. Hilda Solis, a democrat from California, was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on Feb. 24, one month after she was nominated to the post by President Obama.
Her close relationship with organized labor was seen as a potentially contentious issue by Senate Republicans, but she was eventually confirmed by an 80-17 Senate vote.
"Our union contractors look forward to partnering with Secretary Solis to develop informed labor relations policy," Stephen R. Lindauer, chief executive officer, said. "The Association of Union Constructors is willing to assist, in any way possible, in improving working conditions, advancing opportunities for profitable employment and protecting retirement and health care benefits in the construction industry."
The Association of Union Constructors is the premiere national trade association representing the 21st Century union construction industry. TAUC consists of more than 2,500 union contractors, local union contractor associations and vendors in the industrial maintenance and construction field. We demonstrate union construction is the best option because it is safer and more productive, and it provides a higher-quality and cost-competitive product.
